The CJ range of heavy duty cast iron farm pumps combined with the MassControl make a cost effective, reliable and easy to install automatic water pressure system. The inlet, outlet and flow through water channel of the MassControl is enlarged which reduces pipe friction when pumping high volumes of water making the system more efficient.
On long suction lines a pressure tank is recommended because when the pump turns off the pressure in the system will push water back down the suction pipe, expanding the area in the pipe and the pump may turn on. The pressure tank should be plumbed between the pump and the MassControl. A check valve is required on the inlet port of the MassControl to prevent water surging between the pressure tank and the MassControl spring diaphragm tank. This surging between the two tanks will activate the flow sensor of the MassControl which will keep the sensor on and the pump operating. See diagram.
On other installations a pressure tank can be added to the system to increase the water draw off which saves energy and reduces wear and tear on the motor. The pressure tank can be plumbed as above or if it is positioned down fl ow from the MassControl a check valve should be installed on the outlet port of the MassControl. This will prevent the water surging between the two tanks and the pump remaining on. See diagram on page 21 of the catalogue. The MassControl is not recommended on power generators or in areas of poor power supply.
